Fine talc powder is measured by laser diffraction and reported as D50 (mean particle size) and D97 (top cut — 97% of particles fall below this size).
Whiteness is measured via Minolta spectrometer and reflects how much the mineral's natural color deviates from pure white. In cosmetics and paints, higher whiteness means the talc won't dull or discolor the final product's shade. In industrial applications, whiteness matters less than particle size and chemical purity.
